Tackling age discrimination
Courses on Age Equality
Equal and Diverse works to promote age equality both in society and in the workplace.
We offer both training courses and consultancy to help organisations meet their legal requirements and to promote and develop good practice.
Britain is facing a changing population with many individuals living longer and now with the removal of the Statutory Retirement Age the likelihood of a much more age diverse workforce.
The Equality Act 2010 currently makes it unlawful to discriminate against people at work because of their age. It covers issues such as recruitment, terms and conditions, promotions, transfers, dismissals and training. This is likely to be extended to make it illegal to treat someone less favourably in terms of offering goods or services from mid 2013.
Equal and Diverse can help you consider the best way which you can put the regulations around age into practice for your own organisation. There are huge benefits in addressing age discrimination, such as higher productivity, increased staff retention, more experience and lower recruitment costs – all advantages that businesses can enjoy by recruiting in line with the good practice.
Equal and Diverse has a range of half day and whole day training options to raise issues of age awareness. Topics covered can include
• What is Age discrimination and Ageism?
• Understanding the Equality Act 2010 and its likely extension.
• Recruitment and selection
• Promotion and transfers
