Sexual orientation
Challenging homophobia
The Equality Act 2010 makes it illegal to treat someone less favourably on the grounds of their sexual orientation, whether that is in tgheir employment or in the goods and services you offer.
Equal and Diverse seeks to assist organisations in preventing discrimination against an employee or job candidate on the grounds of sexual orientation and to improve good customer relations.
Our training in the area of sexual orientation can be developed to fit your own particular needs, but often we will cover some of the following issues:
•
Understanding the sexual orientation legislation
• The nature of sexual orientation discrimination – homophobia and its impact.
• Homophobia and education.
• Understanding how the legislation applies to your area of work.
• Positive action to promote advantage.
• Combating disadvantage.
• The employment process from recruitment to retirement.
• Monitoring and impact assessments.
• Policy development.
Every business wants the best person for the job. Unequal treatment, prejudice or harassment on homophobic grounds discredits a business and can be very costly.
