Domestic violence training courses
Equal and Diverse offers a one day course for professional in both the statutory sector and within the voluntary sector exploring the issues of domestic violence and gender based violence. The course is adapted to the needs of particular organisations and the legislative background of whichever part of the United Kingdom in which it is delivered.
During the one day event, which is delivered in a sensitive, supportive though participative and engaging manner , participants will consider, amongst other issues, the following:
- What is domestic violence, its prevalence and statistics surrounding gender based violence?
- How do you recognise that a relationship may be abusive?
- What are the common barriers to seeking help and ending a relationship that is violent and abusive?
- What is the wider impact of domestic violence, e.g., upon families and especially children and young people?
- How to engage and support survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
- How to develop a response strategy to domestic and sexual violence at the point of crisis.
- How to identify, assess and manage risks.
- How to support male victims of domestic violence.
- Current legislative support.
- Organisational policy and good practice.
