Adult protection and safeguarding

Protecting and supporting adults

equality and diversity trainingEqual and Diverse has been involved in delivering safeguarding and adult protection training across the United Kingdom and has contributed to both local and national programmes in the local authority and social care sector.

We have developed a one-day introductory course which cane be designed to cover the different legislative contexts in the United Kingdom.

The course is aimed at staff at local authority level as well as those in the social care, housing and third sector who have responsibility for protecting and supporting those who may be vulnerable and potentially at risk of harm.

The objectives of the course are to help participants explore issues such as:

  • What is the nature of harm or abuse?
  • What are the legislative principles in, e.g, No Secrets or the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act ?
  • Who are the likely perpetrators of harm?
  • Where does abuse typically occur?
  • What increases the risk of harm?
  • What do I do if someone tells me they are being abused?
  • What are my legal and organisational responsibilities?
  • The role of policy and good practice.

We are also able to offer a reduced half-day course. Just get in touch with us and we will devise an appropriate programme with you.
