Facilitation and Training Skills
Facilitating better
Developing the confidence of staff and others to help them facilitate meetings and give presentations is a vital skill for those working in business and in the public and third sector. The programme which is outlined below is just one example of some of the courses we can offer in this field.
This workshop will be particularly beneficial for those who in the course of their job have to give presentations, facilitate groups and meetings, or engage in the training of others.
The workshop lasts one day, though this may be altered depending upon the needs of the organisation.
By the end of the workshop participants will have:
- Examined at an introductory level the nature of groups, how they work and the barriers and blocks to their effectiveness.
- Explored the way in which adults learn and how it is possible to maximise individual contribution/involvement within a group or meeting context.
- Reflected on their own strengths and weaknesses in relation to group facilitation and presentation.
- Explored theories around contribution and role within groups.
- Considered some practical techniques and advice on how to improve effective presentation skills, including the use of new technology.
- Explored strategies for dealing with conflict, maintaining focus and movement within discussions, and other key group leadership skills.
- Identified possible areas for future personal and learning development in relation to presentation skills and group facilitation issues.
The workshop will be supported by a handbook which will be given to all participants.
